Dieses preisgekrönte Kurzfilm wurde vom Filmemacher Bruce Branit, auch allgemein bekannt als Co-Schöpfer of '405', realisiert. World Builder wurde in einem einzigen Tag gefilmt, gefolgt von etwa 2 jährigen Nachbearbeitung (post production).

Bern Cardinals sweep Zurich Barracudas to move to 3-0 on the Season

The Cards welcomed the 'Cudas to the allmend Sunday, and sent them home unhappy.

Game 1: Chris Beyeler tossed 8 innings of 5 hit baseball for the win. It was Chris' second win in two starts this season. Beyeler struck out eight Barracudas in eight innings of work. Along the way he allowed only three runs, one of those being earned.

Nderim Coma started on the hill for the Barracudas, and wasn't nearly as affective as as the Cards starter. Coma's defense didn't help him, but he also gave up seven hits in 4 innings of work. When he left the game, his team was behind 6-2.

Frank Berchtold relieved Coma, and had his own troubles with control problems. He would allow four hits, and eight runs, in five innings. Berchtold walked eight and hit two, which was the cause of most of his problems.

The Cards would eventually win the game by a score of 14-4. Offensively the Cardinals were led by Tobias Imboden: 3-4, 2 triples, 3 runs scored. John Baum (3-3), reached base all 5 plate appearances.

Game 2: started scoreless for the first two innings. John Baum for the Cards and Benni Montag for the 'Cudas, keeping their opponent of the board.

The Cardinals would be the first to bust loose in the third inning, three doubles in the inning from Miseal Guerrero, Samuel Paulino, and Johnny Perigos doing the damage. The Cards would end up tacking on one run in each of the next two innings, pushing their lead to 5-0 in the fifth inning. John Baum continued to cruise, running into very little trouble, allowing only two hits and one unearned run in a complete game victory. Baum struck out nine along the way, in helping his team achieve a 5-1 victory.

The two wins push the Cards '09 record to 3-0. They resume play next week at home, Sunday 26th of April against the Sissach Frogs.

Dieses «dismissal» von Raul Dravid (IND) durch Brendon McCullum (NZL) ist ein wahrhaft brillantes «wicket keeping» Beispiel. Schlicht genial in Ausführung und  Antizipation.

Yankees Blamage Teil II

Und es geht weiter mit dem Blamieren in der Bronx. Die Yankess lagen gegen die Indianer aus Cleveland am Samstag im fünften Inning bereits mit sage und schreibe 18 runs im Rückstand (Boxscore 2:20). Das Spiel startete zwar für die Yanks gar nicht mal so schlecht. Marc Teixeira (1st Base) schlug gleich im ersten Inning gleich einen «monster blast» in die Stands.

Der Frust kam aber brerits im zweiten Inning, als die Indians gleich 14 Runs heimbrachten inklusive einem ersten «career grand slam» eines Spieler mit dem exotischen Namen Asdrubai Cabrera. Ich liebe diesen Kerl ;-). Der Schussstand von 4:22 endete dann das «New York slug fest massacre».

Yankees blamieren sich beim Season Opener in der Bronx

1,5 Milliarden Dollar für ein neues Stadion, mehr als $ 400 Mio. für neue Stars: Die Yankees hatten sich für diese MLB-Saison nicht gerade wenig vorgenommen. Das Vorhaben ist jedoch aufs Erste gescheitert. Nach der Auftaktpleite in Baltimore gegen die Orioles (5:10) vermasselten am Donnerstag die Cleveland Indians den Yankees die Eröffnung der neuen prunkvollen Arena.

48.271 Zuschauer sahen ein erschütterndes 2:10 gegen den Aussenseiter (double digits again). Teilweise hatten die Fans 2625 Dollar für ein Ticket bezahlt.

«Das ist nicht gerade das, was wir erwartet haben», meinte Yankees-Manager Joe Girardi, «aber die Geschichte des neuen Stadions sollte nicht durch ein Spiel vorbestimmt sein.» Im alten Stadion hatten die Yankees 85 Jahre gespielt und 26 Mal die World Series gewonnen.

Den ersten Homerun im Neuen Yankee Stadium schlug übrigens Jorge Posada der Catcher der «Pinstripes». Dam' I hate the Yankees!

Die Tigers haben übrigens ihren Season Opener im Comerica Park mit 15:2 gegen die Texas Rangers gewonnen. Und dies in diesem Jahr ohne die «Big three» als Sponsoren.

Die «Rockstars of Cricket» aus Indien hat also den Test (inkl. ODI's) gegen New Zealand mit 1:0 gewonnen und wieder einmal Cricket-Geschichte geschrieben. Congratulations: A job well done by professional India.

The final Test of the series summed up where India and New Zealand stood with regard to history and Test rankings.

India, not having won a Test series in New Zealand for more than 41 years, shed the daredevilry that has become their trademark of late and went for safety first. It showed how much series wins outside the subcontinent, rare as they have been, mean to an Indian team. You can't really dump all the historical baggage.

With a little help from the weather, New Zealand hung on, which will give them some satisfaction, a mini-milestone for a team on a long road to recovery after sudden retirements and an abrupt changing of the guard. The emergence of Jesse Ryder and the return of Chris Martin will be their biggest gains.

The series confirmed the ICC Test rankings, but in Napier, New Zealand showed they could not be written off as a Test side. After their capitulation in Hamilton, a 3-0 result had become a distinct possibility. In application New Zealand might have lacked, in talent they didn't. But as usual they left their followers wondering which was the real New Zealand: one that almost won in Napier or the one that almost lost next week in Wellington? Did they play above themselves in Napier, or did they under-perform in Wellington? We will know over the next year or two.

The series overall wasn't one that made neutrals sit up and take notice, as did Australia and South Africa in back-to-back series. New Zealand fought over seven days out of the 14 days of cricket. But those seven days made for compelling viewing, Ryder and Daniel Vettori thwarting India's charge on day one, Ryder and Ross Taylor setting up a huge total in Napier, and Martin and Co surprising India on the first day in Wellington. That India survived those days was crucial to the 1-0 result. And those should be the days to remember the series by.

Beim zweiten Test in Napier hat das New Zealand Cricket-Team einen hervorragenden Start hingelegt. Nach zwei Tagen steht der Score im ersten «Innings» für die Blackcaps bei 619 für 9 (610 runs for 9 wickets). Hervorragendes «batting» von Ryder (201), Taylor (151), McCullum (115), Vettori (55) und Franklin (52) waren die Grundlage für diesen «Mammut Innings».

Da wie im Baseball, auch im Cricket ohne Statistiken «nichts» geht hat diese hervorragende Leistung ein paar interessante Resultate zu Tage gebracht, welche ich euch in der Originalversion natürlich nicht vorenthalten will:

• New Zealand's total of 619 for 9 declared is their third-highest in Tests, and only the third time they've topped 600. It's the fifth 600-plus score in New Zealand, and the first in ten years.
• It's the 12th time a team has scored 600-plus in the first innings against India. Of the 11 previous occasions, India have lost seven games and drawn four. The last time it happened was against Sri Lanka in Colombo last year, when India lost by an innings and 239 runs.
• There were three or more centuries in an innings for New Zealand for only the fifth time in Tests.
• Jesse Ryder's double-century was the first by a New Zealander since Stephen Fleming's 262 against South Africa in Cape Town nearly three years ago. That was also the last time New Zealand batted more than 150 overs in an innings.
• Harbhajan Singh averages 53.82 in the first innings of overseas Test. In 18 innings he has taken 29 wickets.
